Building Faith. Strengthening Families. Leaving a Legacy.

WE’RE NOT PERFECT FATHERS.
WE’RE FOUNDATIONAL FATHERS.
Building Faith. Strengthening Families. Leaving a Legacy.
Real conversations about faith, marriage, fatherhood, leadership, failure, growth—and what it looks like to follow Jesus when real life gets messy.
We don’t have all the answers.
We’re just two guys committed to building our lives, our families, and our influence on the one foundation that doesn’t move:
Jesus Christ.
DUCT TAPE FIXES MOST THINGS.
DAD JOKES FIX THE REST.
JESUS HOLDS THE WHOLE HOUSE TOGETHER.
Welcome to the Foundational Fathers Podcast.
This is where faith meets real life.
We talk about the wins—and the failures.
The mountaintops—and the valleys.
Marriage. Fatherhood. Leadership. Faith. Calling. Culture. Legacy.
Sometimes the conversations get deep.
Sometimes the dad jokes get terrible.
Usually both happen in the same episode.
But through all of it, we keep coming back to one question:
What kind of foundation are we building?
MEET THE GUYS
NICK SASH
“THE MUTE BASS PLAYER”
Host • Founder • Author • Musician • Speaker

Nick Sash is a husband, father, author, musician, motivational speaker, ordained minister, mentor, and the host of the Foundational Fathers Podcast.
Around here, however, most people know him simply as:
The Mute Bass Player.
Nick has spent years encouraging men to stop sitting on the sidelines of their own lives and recognize the influence God has already placed in their hands.
Whether he’s behind a microphone, playing bass, speaking, mentoring men, serving in ministry, or sitting across the table from someone who needs encouragement, the mission remains the same:
Live intentionally. Follow Jesus. Use your influence well.
Nick also founded the Intentionally UnCommon Initiative, built around the truth of 1 Peter 2:9 and the belief that followers of Jesus were never called to simply blend in.
At home, his most important titles aren’t host, author, speaker, or musician.
They’re husband and dad.
Because ministry starts long before the microphone turns on.
MARCUS PHILLIPS
“THE PHILIPPIAN”
Co-Host • Veteran • Carpenter • Speaker • Husband • Father

Marcus “The Philippian” Phillips brings a completely different background to the Foundational Fathers table—and that’s exactly why this works.
Marcus is a veteran, carpenter, speaker, husband, and father of six.
He understands something about building.
A strong structure doesn’t happen by accident.
It requires a solid foundation.
It requires patience.
It requires correcting things when they get out of square.
And sometimes it requires tearing something apart and rebuilding it the right way.
The same is true of faith, marriage, fatherhood, and life.
Marcus brings humor, practical wisdom, life experience, and a willingness to tackle difficult conversations without pretending he has everything figured out.
He and his wife have been married since 2010, and his experiences as a husband and father help keep the conversations on Foundational Fathers grounded where they belong:
In real life.
MEET MARCUS
TWO DIFFERENT STORIES.
ONE FOUNDATION.
ONE MISSION.

Put Nick and Marcus in the same room and you’re probably going to get some laughs.
Give them microphones and things may get questionable.
But underneath the jokes is something we take seriously:
Men matter.
Fathers matter.
Husbands matter.
Your influence matters.
We believe God has placed men in families, churches, workplaces, friendships, and communities where their lives can make an eternal difference.
Our mission is to encourage men to recognize that influence and build lives worth following.
Not perfect lives.
Faithful ones.
WHAT YOU’LL FIND HERE
HONEST CONVERSATIONS.
We aren’t interested in pretending we’ve figured everything out.
We talk about success.
We talk about failure.
We talk about the lessons we learned the hard way.
Because sometimes the conversation another man needs most begins with:
“Me too.”
UNAPOLOGETIC FAITH.
Jesus isn’t an add-on to what we’re doing.
He’s the foundation.
Scripture shapes the way we approach faith, family, leadership, culture, purpose, and legacy.
We won’t always have the answer.
But we know where we’re going to look for it.
QUESTIONABLE DAD JOKES.
Listen.
Nobody said everything around here was going to be good.
Some jokes build character.
Ours mostly build regret.
And we’re okay with that.
MORE THAN A PODCAST
Foundational Fathers isn’t simply about producing another show.
It’s about discipleship.
It’s about encouragement.
It’s about creating conversations that continue after the episode ends.
It’s about helping a husband love his wife well.
Helping a father recognize the influence he has over his children.
Helping a man who feels stuck take his next faithful step.
Helping someone who has wandered from God realize the door home is still open.
And ultimately, it’s about pointing people toward Jesus.
The podcast is simply the microphone.
The mission is much bigger.
INTENTIONALLY UNCOMMON
Foundational Fathers is part of the larger mission of the Intentionally UnCommon Initiative.
Inspired by 1 Peter 2:9, Intentionally UnCommon exists to encourage people to recognize that God has called them out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
We aren’t called to blend in.
We aren’t called to simply follow the crowd.
We’re called to live differently because of Who we belong to.
Being uncommon isn’t about being louder than everyone else.
It’s about being faithful when everyone else is moving in another direction.
Different on purpose.
Faithful by choice.
UnCommon for Christ.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
JESUS IS THE FOUNDATION.
Everything begins there.
Not a podcast.
Not a personality.
Not a platform.
Not a movement.
Jesus Christ.
We believe Scripture is God’s Word and that the Gospel still changes lives.
We believe salvation isn’t something we earn through good behavior, religious performance, or having our lives together.
We are sinners in need of a Savior.
Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again.
Through faith in Him, we can receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal life.
And following Jesus changes how we live.
How we lead.
How we love.
How we forgive.
How we serve.
How we raise our families.
How we respond when life doesn’t go according to plan.
Our goal isn’t to build followers of Foundational Fathers.
Our goal is to point people toward Jesus.
YOUR INFLUENCE MATTERS.
Maybe you’ll never stand on a stage.
Maybe you’ll never host a podcast.
Maybe thousands of people will never know your name.
That’s okay.
Because some of the most important influence you’ll ever have happens when nobody is watching.
It’s the conversation with your son.
The example your daughter sees.
The way you love your wife.
The integrity you demonstrate at work.
The friend you call when you know he’s struggling.
The prayer nobody hears.
The decision to obey God when it would be easier to follow the crowd.
Those moments matter.
The foundation you build today can impact generations you may never meet.
PULL UP A CHAIR.

You don’t have to have fatherhood figured out.
Neither do we.
You don’t have to pretend everything is perfect.
We certainly don’t.
Come laugh with us.
Learn with us.
Grow with us.
And most importantly—
Follow Jesus with us.
LET’S BUILD SOMETHING THAT LASTS.
